Hey you over there!

Hey you over there you have toilet paper stuck to your shoe. Hey girl with the big smile your big scary boyfriend is outside beeping his horn impatiently for you. Hey bill your mother's in the hall yelling she looks like she's had a little too much to drink it's a little early for that don't you think. Hey mean girl hating me won't make you prettier. Hey jock I can still sense your insecurities as you sprint off to make that touch down. Hey you I've had the biggest crush on you because I thought you had a lot of money, but now that I know you don't bye bye. Hey you I know you get off on making other people feel small, but that doesn't make you a bigger person at all. Hey you, you should just come out of the closet because breaking girls hearts is not cool if he's what you really want then go for it. Hey you there I'm sure underneath all that foundation you're a pretty girl but you drown yourself in it so we can't see you. And lastly I will address me always quick to judge someone and I am light years away from perfect myself. The first instinct upon meeting someone is to judge them. But I will resolve to reserve judgement and that will make way for getting to know people for who they really are and not what I perceive them to be.

Silence

Silence. What is it silence? The sound that comes after a storm that has blown down twenty one trees and taken three lives. It's the sound that's left in your home after your wife of ten years takes the kids and drives off into the sunset. It's the sound made by an old oak that falls in the forest when there is no one around to hear it. It's the sound that resounds between two lovers in the night as they peer out over a peak just off lovers lane. Love is silent. Love is unspoken love is not boastful and love is not loud. It lives on in silence like just after the tide sloshes onto the beach at dawn. Silence is the sound you hear as the sun rises over the beaches of Montego Bay. Silent are the first foot steps of the toddler on the plush carpet. Silent is the woman just after her lover tells her he's leaving her. Why does silence make so much noise! I was silent after Tony left me that dreadful evening. But that silence invoked the noise of my sobs two nights later after the meaning of that dangerous silence sank in. So what is silence? Silence is painful. Silence is forgiving. Silence can pressure you. Silence is powerful. It's the sound that's worth a million words all while saying nothing.

The Lunch Alien

I stare around the room at all the faces that do not even notice that I’m here. My eyes shy back to the ground where they meet all the trash and guck that is plastered to the floor. Do we even have a janitor? I hear the cheerful voices all around me sounding as if each moment they are on the brink of laughter, laughter that I long for. My table is empty all the kids sit at every other table but mine. The chairs all around the lunchroom from the rears of playful children, but the chairs at my table still look brand new. Suddenly the room is filled with laughter I look up and all the faces are looking at me. The class clown is playing behind my back foolish of me to think that they would have noticed me for a change. The yellow walls are not as welcoming as they should be everything about this room should be welcoming but not for me. I have been an outcast ever since the dreadful day when my father took my mother away from me forever. But how can i be blamed for that my life is unfair my mother is taken away from me followed by my friends. My grandmother tries to soothes the loneliness by setting up meetings with my cousins. They are often painful and my cousins treat me with a cold shoulder as well as if it were my fault. I wonder if its the scar that was left after i stepped in between my mother and the knife my dad was slashing at her. It was on my right cheek my granny says it gave me character she says that I would always have a story to tell, but no one in the lunch room wanted to talk about my scar. This scar on my right cheek repelled all the friends that I could have it reminded them of that awful day. But they don't know what it reminds me of if only they were in my shoes and had to look at this scar and have flash backs of my own and my mothers blood all over my once peaceful home. I have nightmares every night about that horrific day when i became the lunch alien.

A Dream Interrupted

It was Angela's first week of college and she was a new mother. It pained her to leave her baby at home and go off to Harvard, but her mother reminded her that an opportunity like this only came along once in a lifetime. So she went out on a limb and went to college and left her new baby girl at home with her mother and father. She was in the library checking an email that she was expecting from a friend. The contents of the email were very upsetting. Angela got up from the computer and stumbled towards the exit fighting back tears. Angela's boyfriend Terry had also came to Harvard he was her boyfriend of 7 years and the father of her beautiful baby girl. She went back to her dorm by the time she made it there she could not hold back the tears any longer and began to bawl. Terry walked into the door that she had left ajar he hurried over to her side and pried her hands from her tear strewn face. "What's wrong honey?" Terry asked frantically and grabbed her into his arms. Angela just kept bawling and shaking her head in denial. " Terry I have something to tell you that will change our whole lives." Angela said through her tears unable to look Terry in his face. " Honey you know you can tell me anything" Terry said and rubbed Angela on her back. Angela looked Terry in his eyes and dropped her head again. " Terry that time we broke up right around the time the baby was conceived I slept with a friend. It meant nothing to me I was drunk one night and one thing led to another and..." She trailed off and stared blankly into space. Angela was so distraught she wondered how this could happen to her. How could someone's luck be this bad she was happy now this bone from her closet has come back to haunt her. " Honey mistakes happen I'll love you no matter what we will over come this. We'll take the test and find out although it does not really matter you and that baby are all the family I have." Terry finished and swept Angela into his arms and held her for ten minutes. Angela knew no matter what happened Terry would always be there for her. Angela felt better about he situation but still she was solemn mourning her dream interrupted.

Quarrels with friends.

I used to think that i would never fuss and fight with friends, but then i thought well friendships are relationships like any other. They are bond to have ups and downs. Undoubtedly fighting with friends make you upset, but its normal that's what shows that you care. If you didn't care you wouldn't bother to argue you would just ignore them. So just like any other relationships you fall out you make up and all is well again. Still i wish we never had to fight because i love you guys. Sometimes we all can't get along always but that's okay that spices up the friendship. I never get bored with them they are my support system. I love them like my sisters they are family. The quarrels are just love.

My Girls

Key's a brat everyone knows that, but she is fortunate to have friends like London and Shelly. They are there through all the hissy fits and the fun times. A girl is lucky to have friends like them. Friends are there to look out for each other. When you need someone they are there. Key has a fear of doing things alone and her friends understand that so they are always with her through everything.

10 things I love about you

1. Your eyes
2. Your smile
3. Your voice.
4. Your warmth
5. The way you brush my hair back from my face... so gentle.
6. Your compassion.
7. Your over-bearingness
8. Your kisses
9. Your conversation.
10. Your heart

Ambrosia

"Ambrosia" he spat as if the name had a disgusting taste. " Who would name their child Ambrosia". My mother would i thought as I snatched my school id from the jerk at the help desk. I could see already that i was not going to like this school. I wondered why my mother had to move us to the city we were doing just fine in yonkers. The people in the city are like vultures just waiting for you to be vulnerable so they could chew you up. I am very vulnerable here it is a new place and i don't know anyone. I had to leave all my friends behind I am a stranger in this strange land. You don't move a child named Ambrosia to a cruel place like this, and to avoid all this you just don't name your child Ambrosia. In Yonkers i liked my name it was different, unique and I stood out from the crowd. Here in the big apple I am just and average girl with a weird name. We've lived here for two months now and still everywhere I go I am judged by my name. I don't give my mother a hard time about naming me my grandma says she's been wearing rose colored glasses most of her life, and is impervious to the world's cruelty. I like her this way she's uplifting you can never be sad around her. She's my motivation when i am around her i forget about all the people who make fun of my name and i am just grateful she name me what she did. She's an angel and you couldn't get mad at her if you tried. I guess that's why my dad left I suppose you can get tired of too much good. I am not mad at him I just am sorry that he would leave a good woman like my mother. We don't talk about my father his name was jim, and every time we do talk about him it's as if he were dead. I don't wish for a normal family, but i do miss him. He used to ride me on his shoulders my view of the world was nice from up there. I don't know if my mother misses anything about him, but I did steal her diary once and she wrote about little girls in their daddy's t-shirts and how she has to endure he grey sundays without him. I don't know what any of that means, but I wonder if she still writes about him. I wonder if he writes about us where is he in the world. If he walked by me on the streets would I even know it was him? Maybe I'll understand one day but as of right now Im confused, maybe it not for me to understand. So for now I'm just Ambrosia

Love lost...

He expressed to her his diar need of a friend on several grey Sundays. She did not know what type of friendship she could offer him. She often ended up harming people rather than helping him. All he needed was someone to talk to he pleaded she figured she could do that. So for days and days at a time she would sit starry eyed as he poured out his soul. Brown skin sweet like honey tall smooth silky she was my queen he would say. God took his perfection his spirit what's next for him... he would talk and talk for hours and she would try to keep her eyes open but sometimes she failed. He didn't mind he would just go on talking. She felt sorry for him so when he asked her out she could not turn him down. His big brown eyes begged and pleaded for her love and compassion. How could she turn down those pitiful eyes filled with the hurt and betrayal thats comes when you can not find closure. They dated for about four months and things were not that bad, but one night everything went wrong. There were a few too many empty wine glasses around her apartment and, one thing led to another and he called her his dead girlfriend's name. She called him pathetic she used all the things that he had confided in her against him. And just as she had feared all her many hours and days of listening to his heartbreak and pain had backfired. She ended up hurting him. What's the harm in listening she said guess there's a bunch. After that night she never heard from him again. Often she wondered what he was doing probably confiding in some other woman who felt sorry for him. She wished that he would get over his dead love, but i guess you never do.
